I saw this card on Stampin Connection. ( a site for SU Demos only) LOVE IT! The colors and simplicity of this card were perfect for the large group that day. Yikes...the sudden increase in attendance has caught me by surprise. At the last 2 classes, I had 15 in attendance!

We only had one class in May, because the AC went out and it was HOTTTT! Here are the cards I designed and the ladies made during that class. The fish were made from a strip of scallop diecuts made using the Tasteful Trim die from Stampin' Up!

This experience should be added to my "live and learn" file. I've added lots to that recently! ;) I was contacted by our local newspaper. They wanted details about the class I volunteer to teach at the Sr Center. I gladly gave an 1.5 hr interview and the reporter requested pics of the cards I created for the class...along with photos of the ladies working on their cards. I narrowed down to 20, the photos I sent. This was the ONLY picture published and I was quoted with just 2 sentences and those were taken out of context. The reporter didn't know what a rubber stamp was....??? I was kind of annoyed and embarrassed.

I chose to keep the colors subdued for this sympathy card. i used Very Vanilla CS, Crumb Cake ink. Embossing folder is named Vintage Wallpaper and the flower is Fun Flowers. Oh and teh frame is from the upcoming 2011-2012 catalog and is called Four Frames. it works perfectly with the Decorative Label punch.

Lots of products from the Occasions mini used here. LOVE this new set, Clearly for You. The embossing folder is one I have used for many of cards recently. It's an exclusive to Stampin' Up...Framed Tulips. Colors are Very Vanilla, Basic Black and "Pear Pizzazz". I CASE'd this bookmark from Shelli. I added it to my card by simply cutting a slit in the front of the card and slipping it in. Thanks for stopping by!

Anyway, I hesitated when i first saw this cute owl punch from Stampin' Up!...but after seeing so many creative ideas, i was sold. this night scene is much cuter IRL...it's hard to take photos with one good hand and one shaky hand. the misty/cloudy night sky was created using white craft and a piece of cotton.

Stampin' Up sold this Spring. Fortunately, we will be able to purchase them in packs of 150 (50 each of 3 sizes) for only $4.95! Can't wait...bring on the "bling"

Elements of Style again...

Elements of Style is a favorite set of mine. This time we used the same swirl as we used on the card in the previous post. We used Soft Suede ink and Kraft CS for a totally different look. The photo doesn't show the Shimmer Mist...so much prettier in real life. It's such a nice subtle way to add an elegant touch.

Recently, I bought a previously owned book of poetry that elementary school children had written. Tore out some pages and went to town. We used Verasmark and the swirly stamp from Elements of Style (love it!), then embossed in clear embossing powder. Next we sponged Summer Sun ink over the embossed swirl. The embossing swirl resists the ink and remained white. This version was kinda bright...I'm eager to try this with different colors of ink.

Although colors in the "orange" family aren't usually my favs...I really like this card. Used Dusty Durango ink on a card base similar to Blush Blossom. The Designer Series Paper is from the Fall Flowers assortment. A variety of circle punches and the Scalloped Circle punch were used to punch the circles from Whisper White CS.

Fabric Butterflies...

I recently acquired a bunch of fabric samples from a friend. An odd size to do much with so I ran them through the Big Shot with the Beautiful Butterflies die from Stampin Up! Love how these turned out, using the coordinating fabric. In the photos the edges appear to be ragged, but in real life, it's hardly an issue. The small checked fabric is silk and is really beautiful. Thank you my Wallingford friend!

I love the striped Designer papers used on these sweet note cards. Using Hodge Podge Hardware on 2 of the cards and a corduroy brad with taffeta ribbon on the card to the left. Notice the Very Vanilla envelope in the second photo...I continued the theme of the scalloped notes and used the scallop edge punch on the flap of the envie.

watercolor roses...

I taught a technique class on watercoloring the rose from Fifth Ave Floral set. Some of the images were embossed in white ink with clear powder and the others had silver EP instead. Personally, I prefer the white ink and clear powder. This photo is of the roses the ladies made. We had just sprayed them with Shimmer Mist. Adds such a nice hint of shimmer.

I was asked to supply an Easter craft project at my DD's job. (Similar to the Valentine project a few months ago) They requested a "religious" item. That was the card. The kids were cute...asking me who they should give their card to. I told them it was their decision...the look on their faces was priceless. The next project was an Easter chick flame-less candle holder. Each "chick" had a different "personality". One of the children was especially interested in the crafts and asked if she could be my helper. She was great! I noticed she was making things from the scraps of the projects. After everyone had completed their projects...I made her a little thank you...in turn, she made one for me.

I found this photo from last Christmas. I created a Gift Certificate Holder for one of my stampin' friends. Her son purchased a Stampin' Up GC for her. How sweet! I used Tombow Multi glue on all the pieces, so she could use them to create cards of her own.

The blue balloons on this card were stamped on a piece of blue CS, then cut out with Paper Snips. Before adhering them to the card, I used colored pencils to add a shadow to the balloons. I glued them directly over the stamped balloon, on the white panel.

My daughter designed and created this card on Christmas eve...she said "I don't want to go to Rite Aid and spend $25 on cards" Smart girl! She is in college and working part time...trying to save her moola. She took this pic with the camera in her phone so it's not the best quality. She did a really nice job embossing and with the layout of the card. She made 5 different cards in 2 hours...not bad considering she is somewhat of a beginner. I enjoyed stamping right alone with her. I made 4 cards for my immediate family. I have a stack of cards I made to send this year but never was able to put the finishing touches on them....so yes, sadly, I didn't send cards again this year.

I will be attempting something new. Teaching 4 simple projects to children in an after school care program. Coming up with things that 40 girls and boys from 3 years to 6th grade could do was the challenging part for me. I decided to have them make Valentine themed projects. They will stamp and personalize a plain brown lunch bag to hold all their creations. Make a full size Valentine card and the 2 items shown above....a bookmark and a frig magnet. I've kept the tools simple...rubber stamps, white cardstock, red cardstock, red ink pad, a few punches and red ribbon.

This card and envelope were made from the same kit. 6 projects in all. I used the Stamp-a-majig to stamp the flowers to resemble a tree. There was also a button that was supposed to be adhered near the punched Bashful Blue flower, but I left that off.

I purchased a kit from Stampin' Up! It was for demonstrators that were unable to attend the Regional. I love these kits...everything was cut to measure! All I had to do was stamp and assemble. The first picture shows the completed project. The second one shows the opened box and contents...cute tags for gifts. I guess you could also use them on cards.

In an effort to make my Top Note Frosty look authentic...he really has a blank stare. Leaving the black CS eyes and mouth plain, left him looking sad. Back to the drawing board to see if I can add a little zip to his sad expression. The giant candy cane stick makes him really large, at least 12 inches tall.

This is one of my all time favorite outline images. This time I stamped the vase with flowers and the greeting in Night of Navy ink. I used colored pencils to complete this monochromatic look. (my favorite ;o) The white panel is popped up using Dimensional Dots.

I created this simple little card for a Fundraiser for our Senior Center. After my last class for 'o9, I asked anyone that would like to make a card, to donate $1.00/card. I donated all supplies and was able to give the Center $25 from the ladies. Very little stamping here: the snowman is actually a die-cut playing card. Notice the Joker over the the right. We stamped the snowflakes for the background, tore white CS to create the snowdrift and added glitter to the torn edge. I had several greetings for them to choose from. I was very pleased!

I never seem to tire of this set. I done a few things to make the flowers look like that have a "shadow"....so much more effective in real life. I used a Stampin' Up marker in Basic Black to add depth to the image. And I stamped the image twice...once with a full load of ink and again, slightly over the the right and without reinking.

I love how the new Ornament Punch , will punch out the stamped images from the coordinating stamp set. But what I love even more, is other uses for the punch. This time I punched the "vase" from blue CS. I trimmed off a the bottom of the "ornament" to make it resemble a vase. Stamped flowers from "Friends 24/7" set and colored all with colored pencils.

I needed one sheet of retired Groovy Guava CS for this card. Couldn't find enough for all 17 ladies to punch the flowers. No problem. I swiped the Guava ink pad across a piece of Whisper White CS and achieved an even more interesting look. Click for a closer peek of the flowers.

I prepared my class sample and realized I only had enough CS for 16 of this card. I had 17 sign up, so we didn't make this card for Halloween. I'm going to use this for a birthday card for one of the men in my family that love skulls. I will stamp a happy birthday greeting on a scrap of light green CS and punch it with the Word Window punch and layer over the Halloween greeting.

So, after I used the Big Shot to create the "vines" for the Pumpkin card (last post) I had this pretty negative strip left over. I couldn't just throw it out, so I used it for this simple card. The "thinking of you" greeting is covering a smudge of ink that appeared out of nowhere.

Since my children don't Trick or Treat anymore...I've kinda lost the interest in creating specially packaged goodies for them. This year I saw several ideas I wanted to try. My Sweet Treat cup holds Skittles and has a neat tab to pull, so the card isn't destroyed by eager children, wanting candy. And it's refillable! I used 3 sizes of circle punches to create "candy corn"...then I realized I layered them in the wrong order....did you notice?

Finally! Some time to update the blog...I have sooooo many cards that I need to photograph and post here. This one goes back several months...it's from the Sr. Center Class. We punched a "window" in the front of the card and attached the 'beer mug" to the inside of the card...this way it is visible, opened or closed.

This was my contribution to the Raffle Gift request we had for our Rubber Dubber meeting. I try to take a photo of all my completed items, as a reference. This time I forgot, until after I had wrapped this it. urg! I wished I had taken the glass coasters out of the wrapping. I LOVE the Circle Circus set from Stampin' Up. It is so versatile! This was a very simple project. I stamped Basic Black ink on Bermuda Bay CS.

I had to make these in a jiffy..I used Cranberry Crisp CS, I've been hoarding since it retired. The school colors are maroon and gold. I added some gold organdy ribbon and punched the corners of the ivory panel with the Ticket Corner punch. It's hard to see, but I used a roller wheel with Cranberry Crisp ink on the Cranberry CS. The envelope had a graduation cap stamped in More Mustard.

not to "mist"...I love my new Texture Plates from Stampin' Up...I was reading how some ladies are misting their CS before putting it through the Big Shot, to dry emboss. I didn't think it would be much different...but it is! My spray bottle was filled, half with vinegar and half water. Some ladies are using straight water and others use alcohol for a quicker drying time. Click on the photo to see the difference. It's clear, the misted CS is the one on the right....love it! Great tip for those times you need a more detailed dry embossed image.

55th Anniversary...

A family friend recently celebrated their 55th Anniversary. With limited supplies, I created this card. I also took photos at their party and created a 6 x 6 album for them. I'm not a big scrapbooker...yet...so 6x6 was a nice manageable size for me to complete. More photos of the album will be posted here soon.

Stamp Camp has come to and end. It's surprising how fast those 5 days go. It was so nice to see everyone. Several of the ladies used this angel image for their cards. From what I saw, most embossed in gold EP on a rich color cs and put on an oval mat. I like my cards to be original and I love Kraft and White together. Here is one of the 2 versions I made. It's hard to see in the photo, but I added glitter to the snowflakes after embossing. My angel cards are going in my Mom's stash....she loved the card. My own Holiday cards will probably be made with 2 new products I can order tomorrow...yippee!

Cuttlebug Wax Paper Resist...

I recently found this technique online. I discovered the technique works best with an all over embossing folder like the snowflake used here. I brayered Always Artichoke ink over the resist image and layered on Real Red then Chocolate Chip card base.

A simple card I created for the ladies at the "Center". Again, I used the pre-made cards and added the stamped images. This card reminds me of a fishing T-shirt my DH has with the saying"I have friends in low places" on it. We colored the images with colored pencils and used the wonderful Stampin' Up! white gel pen for the eyes.

Sr. Center card from last month...scanned and much nice IRL. I always visual lawnmowers as red...but they come in many colors, depending on the brand. I like this simple design. I make "faux" grass by cutting green CS with Paper Snips...click on image for a closer look.

Big Shot SWAP card...

I've had to resort to using my scanner , since I left my camera at the beach. I created this card for a recent SWAP I participated in. Only one stamp was used...but I used the heck out of my Big Shot for this simple card. Baja Breeze card base made a nice contrast to the white daisy. I cut the Swirly die cut in half to create the stem. Maybe I'll add a little Dazzling Diamonds glitter for some "bling".

I found these cute A2 cards in Wal-Mart. I've used them for several different themes....one recently, for the Sr. Center class, we stamped with fish images. The circles printed on the card reminded me of bubbles or balloons. I used Brilliant Blue ink with Real Red CS as an accent. I made this for a special 5 yr old ;o)

I just love this set I earned for my sales during Sale-a-bration! I stamped multiples of each flower and a few of the leaves in Basic Black ink. I colored with reg. colored pencils. I will trim these from the main sheet to use for individual cards. Click the image to enlarge....you'll notice I colored outside of the line. My tip is to do this so cutting the images doesn't have to be so critical. Watch for cards created with these fun images.

Boring...no color and little interesting details.

Covered the "E" with Cranberry Crisp CS...still didn't "wow" me. So I matted each photo with black CS and added more embellishments. I used the Big Shot to die cut some of them and punches for the rest. Click each photo to enlarge.

I was recently asked to create a memento for my DD's prom, as a surprise for her. Every family made one for their child. The school gave us a letter "E", cut from white poster board. I treated DD's like a huge scrapbook page and loaded it with pics of her friends. All pics were to be school related. I added some of her favorite things...flip-flops, hearts, flowers and used her school colors...not my favorite which made it difficult for me. All the mementos will be on display at school. I hope she likes hers.

My Mom loves these sketched images. She made this card for her brother and sister-in-law. They bought a home near the beach and she thought this would be appropriate for them...I agree! Simply stamped in Basic Black ink and colored with chalks (pastels).

If we don't soon get out from under the dark cloud that seems to be following us...I'll scream! Monday, my DH bought a truck. Tuesday he went to his cardiologist for a routine exam and had to have unexpected cardiac surgery, that afternoon. Saturday, we had high winds and a tree fell on his new truck. Photo #2 shows the fallen tree laying on our power lines. Interesting weekend for sure.

Flowers and Mafia...

My DS, was recently invited to attend a dance (not prom) with one of his grade school friends. Just 14 yrs old and over 6 feet tall...isn't he handsome??? His date wore an emerald green dress. The roses were actually beautiful in person...ivory with pink. My Mom and I made the wristlet and boutonniere...that was an experience. Let's just say, I'll be ready for the next dance. I had most of the supplies on hand, just needed the wristlet thingy. Found that at Michael's for $2.99! Saved a bundle of cash by creating them ourselves. We teased DS he looked like he belonged in the Mafia. Black shirt, shoes, sox, jacket and pants.
He is only 22.5% Italian ;o) Unfortunately, I had my camera on the wrong setting and the only pic I took of the 2 of them came out so blurry.

Gamsol and Glitter...

For the flowers, I colored them with light blue and purple colored pencils. Magic Pencil technique using Gamsol made a more dramatic effect than colored pencil alone. I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter to give it some "pop". It's so much prettier IRL
