Case'd

So one of the ladies in my Sr. Center class brought her cards in to "show and tell". I case'd her card and the ladies made it today in my Holiday Card Class. It was my first "buckle" card. I don't know why I was so intimated...it was easy!

Stamps: The Snowflake Spot

Cardstock: Real Red and Very Vanilla

Designer Series Paper: "Dashing"

Ink: Real Red

Accessories: Oval Punch, Word Window Punch

Ta Dah!

These are the finished product for a swap I was in today. Simple and easy to mass produce. After I took the pics, I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the Barely Banana brad in the center of the flower. I also used the Mat Pack to create a little detail on the right bottom corner. We were asked to use Designer Series Paper on our cards. I got some really great swaps in return. And something else I realized after I made the cards...they were designed to be held horizontally, but also worked if held vertically...it's a "2-fer"

Sr. Center cards

This is a pic of all the cards I created for the ladies at the Sr. Center. They made one Halloween Card...the one with the Candy Corn background paper. See each pic below for individual details.

Thanks for looking and have a nice weekend!

#4 Faux Jeans

I saw the "Jeans" card on Kristina's blog....way cute! This is the version I created for the ladies at the Sr. Center. They ran with the idea and added more stitching around the label and the pocket. It needed it. I try to keep my samples, simple. I prepare 4 cards for 18 ladies, to complete in 2 hours. Too much detail slows down the entire group.

#3 Sr. Center

This quick and easy card has stamped and punched embellishments from the "In the Spotlight" Hostess set. For almost every stamp in the set, Stampin Up has a coordinating punch. I used the Scallop and the 5-Petal punches for these cards. Again, we colored the shiny gold brad, with an orange Sharpie, to coordinate with the rest of the card.

Halloween Cards from Sr. Center

They made the one on the left with the Candy Corn background paper. I made these for my kids. My DD's favorite candy of all time is Candy Corn, so that one is her's. The other is for my DS...the skull and crossbones on the background paper is so "him".

Sr. Center Cowboy

A masculine card we stamped at the Sr. Center. The printed CS is distressed and I sponged ink around the edge to make it more distressed. The *lasso* is simply some twine wrapped several times and secured with a brad. The brad was too shiny so we colored it with a brown Sharpie Marker to tone it down a bit. Simple, simple, simple!

Another hint...

Here are a few more clues...check back tomorrow to see the finished product(s).

Isn't this cute!

This idea is from Philly Regionals...Hi Kim! The presenter used one sheet of 12 x 12 Designer Paper to create this little beauty. It will hold 3 x 3 notes and envelopes. Just a few folds and some Sticky Strip, add some ribbon and embellish...Viola, you are done!

Holiday Glitz Card Kit samples

My Holiday Glitz Card Kit did not arrive in time for my Workshop (party) on Saturday. I knew it wouldn't, but that was OK. I created my sample with CS I already had in my stash. The kit used clear Rhinestone brads, I used Circle Fire Brads, in a golden color, which I like just as much. On the card without a brad, I used my glue pen and Stampin Up Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the tree top star. Glitter is tough to photograph. Notice the colored staples I referred to in my last post. I had already used all of my Wild Wasabi Textured CS, so my sample uses reg. Wasabi CS. Simple card to make in a large quantity.

Tip of the Day...colored staples

Not that I put a new tip on everyday, but....here goes.

Staples, especially colored staples are showing up everywhere. On cards, scrapbook pages and other "altered" items. If you only need a few colored staples, use a Sharpie marker to color the silvertone staples. YOu can do this before loading the staples or better yet, open the dispenser and color them right in the dispenser! I will post a card soon showing colored staples. It's a "matchbook" style card from the new Holiday Glitz card kit. more deets here...

Three is plenty

This is the Christmas card I created using the Pick a Petal set I mentioned in my previous post.
~Gable Green Card base 6 x 6 folded in half, to create a 3 x 6 fininshed card. My favorite!
~Stamped the Trimtastic set for the top border and the Merry Christmas in Green Galore ink
~Stamped petals of "poinsettia" with black ink on Real Red CS...cut out with scissors this time.
~used same "petal" stamp and black ink on Garden Green CS to imitate the foliage of the poinsettia.

Useless Trivia:
The red leaves and the green leaves of a poinsetta are the same, just a different color. There is probably a name for this, but I'm not much of a gardener heehee...

Pink, Black and White

I'm so convinced....black CS and a black ink pad are your friend! I created these 2 cards to show different ways to use the Pick a Petal set. I even used it for a Christmas card, you'll see in an upcoming post. Soooo...back to my point. The flower stamped in black ink on the white panel could have any color center and coordinating layer. I love Black, Pink and White together. I sponged Pretty in Pink ink on the center of the flower and added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the petals. Have you noticed...glitter does not photograph so well? It's a shame because it really kicks this card up a notch. If I had switched out the sponged pink ink and used, maybe Summer Sun, it would look a lot different.

Oh yeah....I did not cut out all 9 petals of the flower on the black card...I used the Large Oval punch...took no time at all.

Frosty...not!

Although I didn't use ole Frosty, himself for these cards...I used all the other pieces in the set. The set has been around for a long time, but it is classic. I case'd this idea from a card my Upline received a few years ago. She had all of her Holiday cards on display and this idea just stuck with me. I'm guessing this idea is a great one for " No layers, Simple cards" I've been seeing a lot of. Some of my cards have the greeting on the inside of the card, some on the outside. I used Gold EP on the Bravo Burgundy card with Bravo grosgrain. All the others where embossed in Silver and used the coordinating ribbon. Elegant Eggplant, Night of Navy, Always Artichoke w/ Spring Green grosgrain, Handsome Hunter with Hunter grosgrain. I used the new Metallic (Silver) Elastic cord to hang the tag on the Eggplant card. You can't see it too well, but the circle tag on the Eggplant card is Brushed Silver CS, punched using the circle punch then embossed with a single silver snowflake. It looks like metal...Sterling Silver of course!

I love punches!

This is a pic from the Philly Regional Seminar I went to in September. I love these colors for fall, but mostly I love how they used punches to create the flower. Apple Cider Double Sided Designer Paper with a circle punch was used for the flower center. According to the presenter, you can get 47 "centers" from one sheet of 12 x 12 paper! The Scallop Punch adds the "petals". If you look closely, you will notice the subtle differences in these 2 cards. One uses Hodge Podge Hardware for the ribbon holder. The other simply a Horizontal Slot (used vertically :o)to hold the ribbon in place. Speaking of ribbon...have you seen the new Stampin Up Taffeta Ribbon...yummy! Just a little goes a long way on this card.

OBX artist Wayne Fulcher

Most of you that know me personally, know I'm a frustrated artist. Both my parents and my brother have talent. My grandfather was an artist. He supported his family of 4 children and a wife by using his gift. Anyway, I've tried to draw, but my sketches look like stick figures. I guess that's why I love rubberstamping so much. It makes me feel like an artist.

This photo is of a very talented artist on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. His name is Wayne Fulcher. Wayne's studio is in a gallery that sells his work. I love watching Wayne work! He makes his beautiful creations before your eyes. It's amazing to watch. Here, Wayne is sketching a mermaid for my daughter. It's on lined notebook paper, but she doesn't care. Wayne drew it for her. Wayne has an entire line of mermaid paintings. Some cute, some beautiful, all lovely. If you ever get the opportunity to visit the OBX, you may see Wayne walking or thumbing a ride on Rt. 12, usually in Frisco and Buxton. He is a character...doesn't own a car and doesn't paint at home. He seems happy with his life, just the way it is...gotta love that!

My favorite "tool tip"

Are your scissors sticky from trimming your rubber stamps? Or from cutting "Sticky Strip?" I want to share one of my favorite "tool tips". Used dryer sheets are the greatest when it comes to de-gunking the blades of your scissors. Carefully rub the blades with the used sheet and the "gunk" disappears like magic! Free, easy and chemical-free. Do you have a favorite tip...leave a comment and share it with me.

Thanks!

Senior Center Cards 9/27/07

These are the Sr. Center cards we made today. Eighteen ladies completed the 4 cards in under 2 hours. woohoo!
I have to keep the cards simple or we'd never get done.

Anyway...the pocket card used the new Boho Western set "Wanted". Great set for masculine cards.

Pink Blurry card (sorry) uses squares of Background paper and the 5 petal punch, a brad and dimensionals.

Blue card, is an inspiration from Cami...thanks Cami.

The last card is my personal fav. It is faux layered and embossed and then glittered!

All the cards are easy, but hopefully everyone learned a new trick or two.

Thanks for looking!

Glittery Ornaments!

These ornaments were from the Philly Regional I attended this month. This picture does them ZERO justice. You can't image how they sparkled. Needless to say, chipboard was on my next order! I just have to remember to use it and not hoard it...lol. They used Stampin Up Craft Ink to color the chipboard. While the ink is still wet, they covered it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder and heated with a heat gun. The Crop-a-dile was used to create a hole for stringing a ribbon or cord. Easy!

Emergency Birthday Card Kit

Earlier this month, I went to a fabulous Stampin Up Event for demonstrators only. It was held at the Philadelphia Convention Center. Some of my downline and I took the train, right into the Market Street East station. There were 500 other Demos in attendance, all were sharing ideas, swapping and learning lot of new tips, tricks and techniques! This photo shows something I thought was cool. I love the Simply Scrappin kit, not just for scrapbooking, but for cardmaking as well. This idea is an Emergency Birthday Card Kit. It has a cute saying on the front of the package that hold 8 cards and envelopes. I had to order this kit and make one for myself. I think I see a class in the near future.

Did you vote?

Did you notice the Poll? ----->
Looks like I'm going to have to post a card to make someone vote for poor Soft Sky and River Rock. I do love all the new In Colors offered by Stampin Up. I'm really surprised Purely Pomegranate doesn't have more votes. It's the "red" I've been wanting for years. It has just a touch of blue and it's my absolute favorite. So rich and elegant.

Speaking of Elegant

I have an Elegant Holiday Stamp a Stack coming up in October. Actually, 2 S.A.Ss. The other is Whimsical Holiday. This should cover most everyone's taste.

The Elegant "stack" will have cards using rich colors, embossing, etc.

The Whimsical "stack" will be more casual cards...pastel colors, snowmen, snowflakes, maybe a cute Santa in the lot.

If you are interested in learning more about my classes, please contact me via email.

Thanks very much!
Ellen
