Tree + Wind =...

If we don't soon get out from under the dark cloud that seems to be following us...I'll scream! Monday, my DH bought a truck. Tuesday he went to his cardiologist for a routine exam and had to have unexpected cardiac surgery, that afternoon. Saturday, we had high winds and a tree fell on his new truck. Photo #2 shows the fallen tree laying on our power lines. Interesting weekend for sure.

Flowers and Mafia...

My DS, was recently invited to attend a dance (not prom) with one of his grade school friends. Just 14 yrs old and over 6 feet tall...isn't he handsome??? His date wore an emerald green dress. The roses were actually beautiful in person...ivory with pink. My Mom and I made the wristlet and boutonniere...that was an experience. Let's just say, I'll be ready for the next dance. I had most of the supplies on hand, just needed the wristlet thingy. Found that at Michael's for $2.99! Saved a bundle of cash by creating them ourselves. We teased DS he looked like he belonged in the Mafia. Black shirt, shoes, sox, jacket and pants.
He is only 22.5% Italian ;o) Unfortunately, I had my camera on the wrong setting and the only pic I took of the 2 of them came out so blurry.

Sr. Center cards from 3/12/09...

These are the cards the ladies made at my recent class at the Sr. Center.

Gamsol and Glitter...

For the flowers, I colored them with light blue and purple colored pencils. Magic Pencil technique using Gamsol made a more dramatic effect than colored pencil alone. I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter to give it some "pop". It's so much prettier IRL

Sunshine Garden...

I held a class recently using the Sunshine Garden Simply Scrappin' Kit. Each person made 6 cards...3 are pictured here and I will post the other 3 in the next few days.

Sick of Winter...

Yesterday, the temp. soared to 70 degrees in Delaware! I'm so ready for Spring...aren't you? When I created this card, I wasn't sure if I should add a little bit of green leaves, but didn't. I love that tiny bird pirched on the branch.

All my favorites...

I love 3 x 6" cards...watercoloring, organdy ribbon, flowers and the colors pink and green used together. The bee stamped in matching green ink adds just a little whimsy to this card. No greeting needed, in my opinion. ;o) I think it's beautiful, as is. I leave the greetings for the inside of the card, so my eye isn't distracted by words on my little work of art ;)

24/7 Bird...

Not sure which version of the card I like the best. Everything is the same, except the background image is stamped in 2 different colors of ink. Oh and the branch and leaves on the bottom card were colored with colored pencil. Which one gets your vote?

Totally CASE'd and simplified...

I CASE'd this card and simplified for my Sr. Center Class. Thank you Jill, for the inspiration! I have to keep the cards simple and easy for a large group to complete in 2 hours. And the greetings are kept to a minimum. "Thinking of you" is my personal favorite greetings for a card. This leaves me the option to use for birthday, get well, sympathy and more. I prepare 4 cards for the group. I have 24 ladies that could potentially attend my class. The attendance is usually around 16 ladies. Whew!

Sale-a-bration Simple...

I created this simple card using 2 FREE Sale-a-bration stamp sets. The supplies were...one 1/2 sheet of pale green CS and 2 ink pads...Always Artichoke and Regal Rose. Stamp sets: Congrats and Beautiful Blooms.

Same, yet different...

More Sr. Center cards...since that's what takes the bulk of my stamping time. I LOVE 3x6" cards! I used the identical layout for these 2 cards, just different colors! They both highlight the FREE Sale-a-bration set I earned with my recent order. It's one of my new favs since it is meant to be used with punches I already own. I love glitter as well but it never seems to photograph very well. The scallop circle on the red card has red chunky glitter in the center for added "pop".

Sr Center 2-12-09...

Here are 3 of the 4 cards I created for the class, photgraphed in natural light. The 4th card must be in my "other" bag. I used all FREE Sale-a-bration items for the cards. Coordinating stamps, ribbon and Designer Series Paper..oh my!

SCS...aka Senior Center Simple

I made this card for the Sr Center group. I used Choc Chip Textured CS for the card base. This CS makes even a simple card look rich and beautiful. The Sweet Stems set flower was stamped in Choc Chip ink and colored with pencils.

Good intentions....

I never got to make my Holiday Cards this year...this simple card was what I had planned to send but never did. I like the idea of Happy New Year cards instead, since time management is an issue for me. ;^)

Festival of Trees...

If you remember a few posts ago, I was involved in a project at the Sr. Center where I teach my classes. A group of us...Dawn, Margie, Eileen, Kay Rz, Mary and Lois, all spend time one day creating the ornaments. We did a little creating on our own, because one day just wasn't enough time...can you believe it?? The director of the Center, Linda, made the beautiful tree skirt to complete out little tree (only 30" tall). As a fundraiser, the Center had a raffle for the tree. They collected $100!!!

I just had post a comparison of my children's photos. I can't believe how they've grown!!! Where have the years gone? The top phot0 was taken at the Holidays, 14 yrs ago and the next photo was just recently...as you may remember the post from Homecoming. My DS wasn't even walking yet and now he looks forward to driving. My DD will be graduating this Spring...OMGosh!

Sr. Center Cards...

These are 3 of the 4 cards I made for my Sr. Center in November. I didn't post the 4th card because some of you may get it in the mail...it was quick and easy to mass produce, which I need at this point. Don't you love how we used the Horizontal Slot punch to turn grass into Cattails on the green card??? I do! I saw this done at my upline's meeting. My sideline had framed this design and another in a double frame...it was so nice, I just had to CASE.

Scandinavian Tree...

This is my card from a recent swap. I love the image of this tree. I embossed silver EP on Shimmery White CS. It's a bit hard to see, but I applied Red Chunky Glitter to the center of the flower. Time was running short (imagine that!) so I only had time to watercolor one card. Simple card, just what I needed when time was of the essence. Thanks for stopping by...
