Good intentions....

I never got to make my Holiday Cards this year...this simple card was what I had planned to send but never did. I like the idea of Happy New Year cards instead, since time management is an issue for me. ;^)

Festival of Trees...

Click to enlarge photo and notice all the handmade ornaments and beautiful tree skirt!

If you remember a few posts ago, I was involved in a project at the Sr. Center where I teach my classes. A group of us...Dawn, Margie, Eileen, Kay Rz, Mary and Lois, all spend time one day creating the ornaments. We did a little creating on our own, because one day just wasn't enough time...can you believe it?? The director of the Center, Linda, made the beautiful tree skirt to complete out little tree (only 30" tall). As a fundraiser, the Center had a raffle for the tree. They collected $100!!!
Thanks to our photographer, Dawn, for the photo...which I not-so-creatively edited to highlight the tree...

The top phot0 was taken at the Holidays, 14 yrs ago and the next photo was just recently...as you may remember the post from Homecoming. My DS wasn't even walking yet and now he looks forward to driving. My DD will be graduating this Spring...OMGosh!

Sr. Center Cards...

These are 3 of the 4 cards I made for my Sr. Center in November. I didn't post the 4th card because some of you may get it in the mail...it was quick and easy to mass produce, which I need at this point. Don't you love how we used the Horizontal Slot punch to turn grass into Cattails on the green card??? I do! I saw this done at my upline's meeting. My sideline had framed this design and another in a double frame...it was so nice, I just had to CASE.

Scandinavian Tree...

This is my card from a recent swap. I love the image of this tree. I embossed silver EP on Shimmery White CS. It's a bit hard to see, but I applied Red Chunky Glitter to the center of the flower. Time was running short (imagine that!) so I only had time to watercolor one card. Simple card, just what I needed when time was of the essence. Thanks for stopping by...

Sr. Center Tree, so far...

A few of the ladies from the Sr. Center have been working to make handmade ornaments for the Hospice Tree. It's so interesting to see what everyone has created. Snowmen, Santas, Stars, Trees and more. We still have a few more days to put the finishing touches on the tree...watch for more pics and some close up views of the oraments.

found 'em...

These are the 2 missing cards from my last class st the Sr. Center. Anyway...I love black...it's not my mood, it's a choice. I have 12 pair of black pants...20 black tops/shirts...too many black shoes/sandals to count. I love black for cards as well....so easy to use. The Nature's Silhouettes card base is black textured CS and the "noel" card has a strip of black CS and some sheer organdy ribbon in black, too. I wouldn't normally use black for the Christmas card, but the scrapbook paper worked with this layout. I gave the ladies a choice of noel or love stamps, just in case they didn't feel as daring to use the black for a Christmas card. It made a great Valentine card with the love greeting.

Homecoming 'o8...

My children went to their Homecoming Dance last night. DS is a freshman and DD a senior. Hard to believe! DD had a date, but he turned out to be a "total jerk"...her words, not mine. For those of you that know my DS...check out that smile...he got his braces off! My brother arrived in time to get a few pics with the kids, which was nice. My kids just love him. He is fun to be around...smart, silly and humorous all rolled into one. I've got more pics...but gotta get the OK to post them...heehee

2 of 4 cards...

hmmm...here are 2 of the 4 cards we made on Thursday at the Sr. Center. I took pics of all 4 but only 2 uploaded here. Anyway,
the 1st card was inspired by Allison Y. We embossed the stems from Pocket Silhouettes using Versamark and clear EP. My Mom help me (a lot) in creating the Lovely Lilac card. Little dots of White gel pen added some interest to this simple card.

"Frank" mini fundraiser...

I cased this cute Frankenstein card. There is no stamping involved...just creatively placed punched shapes and some sponging. We cut his hair with scissors and drew his mouth and scar with a marker. At my Sr. Center class, I held a mini fundraiser. I donated the supplies and I prepped 16 card kits. I asked anyone making this card to donate $1.00 to the Center. (Their budget was recently cut by $12,000...ouch!) All 16 kits were gone in a flash!!! I will create more mini fundraiser projects for future classes. This was a fun experience for all.

Thursday's cards 10/9/08

#1 Cuttlebugged bird

#2 Birthday "cheater" card

#3 Lori L's design w/o the Dazzling Diamonds ;)

#4 changed the color of Lori's card to Riding Hood Red

I want to thank my fellow "Rubber Dubber" Lori L. for the swap card inspiration. Card #3 is almost identical to her's except we used the Word Window punch to add a "popped up" greeting. Lori's card had Dazzling Diamonds glitter added to the center of the flower, our's did not. I will add DD glitter to my card, and mentioned to the Sr. Group this is something they can do at home. And #2 "cheater" card uses a blank note card...well, it's blank on the inside but had the stripes printed on the outside. I chose Baha Breeze and Rose Red to coordinate with the stripes. Quick and easy! Card #1 don't you just love that bird? One of the ladies at Table 3 (Hi CR!) used colored pencils to enhance the bird on her card. I loved her idea! I hope Stampin' Up will carry their own line of exclusive embossing folders...I just LOVE them.

Swaps....NOT!!!...

I just don't care for these cards I created, so I did something else...Mr. Twigster is cute, but I'm not an earth tone kinda gal. I love flowers and feminine colors. If you noticed my banner...how couldn't ya...it's gigantic and I don't know why...anyway, that's a pic of the roses I gave my DD for her 18th b'day...feelin' old here...just a few days after her b'day I turned 50!!!! I'm officially a member of the Sr. Center ;o) Thanks for stopping by! Have a terrific day!

Personalized Gift Card tin...

This "bandage tin" was used to hold a gift card. I created it for someone near and dear to my heart. (Hi EJ!) She loves WaWa milkshakes, so I got her a gift card and put it inside this personalized tin. Perfect fit! I just love personalizing these tins. So quick and easy. Taking the same idea for the Post-it note Key Ring (a few posts ago) I used the Together Forever and Defining Alphabets sets. Lots of pink made this very girly...but you could make it any theme you like. I did a tin with a cow theme this summer (Hi DD) and will be making lots for Christmas gifts.

9/25 Sr.Center Class

Cranberry Crisp Pocket Silhouettes
Night of Navy Pocket Silhouettes
Eat Drink & Be Scary
Upsy Daisy

For my Sr. Center class this week, I used some of the stamp sets that are currently on special from Stampin' Up! I personally LOVE Upsy Daisy. My Mom designed the Old Olive Z-Fold card...that was a big help...I was feeling tapped out and Mom stepped up to give me a hand. When you've been stamping as long as I have, it's had to come up with simple cards that aren't boring. The addition of the unique fold helped make the simple card more dramatic. Thanks Mom!
